COLETS PILING REDUCE OPERATIONAL
COSTS WITH NEW GENERATION GTL70 FROM KING TRAILERS
Piling specialists, Colets Piling Ltd, are
experiencing reduced service times and more economic running costs from its new
generation GTL70 trailer recently acquired from heavy haulage trailer
manufacturer, King Trailers.
Specifically acquired for the company’s transport division, Tye Plant,
the new trailer, which is hauled by a Volvo tractor unit, is primarily being
used to carry Colet’s extensive range of purpose built and Soilmec piling rigs
weighing from 28 to 45 tonnes to construction sites throughout the
UK
.
Malcolm
Rogerson, Director at Colets Piling comments: “We were particularly impressed
with the trailer’s new improved steering alignment system which enables the
vehicle to be operated and re-set by the driver.
We were also very keen to ensure operational safety during loading and
unloading in times of restricted visibility.
The new trailer successfully addresses this via a split charging battery
system so that even when the neck is disconnected, the beacons and lights on the
trailer are still fully illuminated.”
Based on the hugely successful original
GTL70 model, the new tri-axle, trailer launched at this year’s SED show has
been totally re-engineered to provide a lighter gross vehicle weight and a more
streamlined, aesthetically pleasing appearance whilst providing unrivalled
operational performance and an increased payload.
With
a removable Hydroneck and 7.32m long main deck with angled leading edge for
easier loading, the new GTL70 also incorporates a totally new steering system
for exceptional manoeuvrability, accessibility to lubrication points, steering, electronic and hydraulic systems
making repairs and servicing much simpler and straightforward.
The ability to undertake fast repairs also ensures reduced downtime,
which in turn means the trailer’s total life running costs are extremely cost
effective.
Other
key improvements include a completely re-engineered fully load bearing chamfered
rear bridge which incorporates a much deeper and wider well than previously
thereby easily accommodating equipment such as piling rigs or large boom
excavators whilst ensuring the overall height of the vehicle is kept to the
minimum.
In
addition to the new GTL70, Colets also operate a number of King GTS44 trailers
in its fleet. With further expansion planned the company has recently ordered an
additional GTS44 trailer for delivery in Jan 05 which will be built to a higher
specification than the standard model to carry its smaller purpose built piling
rigs.
“King
have always worked closely with us to provide us with vehicles that meets our
requirements exactly,” explains Malcolm Rogerson.
“We are extremely pleased with the service provided by King and their
staff and also with the quality and performance of the new trailer which is
proving to be outstanding.”
