The new MDT machines are the most recent additions
to our fleet and have been built specifically to
compliment our existing machines but allowing us to
undertake and install piles in limited access situations.
They are the most powerful CFA piling machine within
its weight and class.
Using a segmental continuous flight augers it can
construct piles 300mm to 450mm upto 25metres in
depth.
The piles are augered to the designed depths, high slump
concrete is pumped through the hollow stem whilst the
continuous flight auger is withdrawn at a controlled rate,
thus removing the spoil whilst forming a concrete
column from the pile toe to ground level. A preformed
reinforcing cage is then lowered into the concrete
column thus forming the pile.
Using these rigs in CFA application piles can be formed
in water bearing ground without the need of casing or
bentonite and piles can be installed in most strata,
typically clays, gravels, sands, silts and soft rocks.
